164th Airlift Wing Relocation, Tennessee Air National Guard

Memphis, Tennessee

The 164th Airlift Wing was relocated to Memphis International Airport’s southeastern corner in order to support its aircraft change from the C-141 to C-5 aircraft.  Project requirements at the Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) Complex included two new 6,500 barrel JP-8 fuel storage tanks, a new Pump House building, a POL Operations Building, Commercial unloading and Fuel Truck Fill Sands, and a LOX/LIN storage area.  Covered parking was included for the R-11 Tanker Trucks and R-12 Refueler vehicles. A Government Vehicle Fueling Station is located adjacent to the POL yard.  Allen & Hoshall was responsible for layout, drainage, and connector taxiway design.
