Memphis International Airport

Memphis, Tennessee

Allen & Hoshall has provided design and/or construction phase services at Memphis International Airport since 1960. This experience includes the initial Terminal, Parking, Parking Structures, Access Roads and airfield construction including Runways, Parking Aprons, and Taxiways. Allen & Hoshall’s record in delivering all of these major projects within budget and on-schedule is exemplary. The past 30 projects were closed out at three (3) percent under the contracted bid price. These contracts were built for $265,590,000 vs. bid prices of $273,213,000.

Our most recent experience includes:
• Power Distribution Equipment Replacement and Electrical Study
The project consisted of design and CA services for the replacement of numerous electrical equipment items including 2 substations, 2 switchboards, and 3 motor control centers. Each location required specific detailed phasing plans in addition to work sequencing developed in order to minimize the effect of power outages in a fully functioning airport. The design project was amended to include a study on the effects of the electrical system from the intended point of use jet bridge power for all Concourse B gates as well as the Concourse B Modernization Project. (2014)

• Seismic Upgrades to Airfield Vaults
The project included design services for power and pathways to upgrade the outdated system to provide a higher level of security, in compliance with Federal security regulations and MSCAA security plans, by incorporating proximity monitoring and enhanced system integration. (2012)

• CCTV & Access Control System Upgrade
The project included design services for power and pathways to upgrade the outdated system to provide enterprise based access control, security and personal identification verification systems that provide MSCAA with the ability to control access and visually monitor areas in and/or around the terminal buildings, concourses and remote properties at the Memphis International Airport in compliance with Federal security regulations and MSCAA security plans. (2012)
Master Plan Update and Facility Assessment The project was extensive on-site evaluation of the existing systems at the Main Terminal and Concourses. The assessment concluded that several building systems were operating at or above their functional capacities; have components and sub-systems that require heavy maintenance, overhaul, or replacement; or will restrict future additions to buildings without simultaneously upgrading the capacity of deficient systems. Recommendations including cost estimates were included. (2010)
